Fox News host Laura Ingraham said Friday that “all bets are off” when it comes to returning to normality after the coronavirus pandemic is over.

“I think all bets are off for when they want to in any way approach no masks,” Ingraham said during a conversation with Stanford University professor Jay Bhattacharya on Friday night. “I think we’re gonna stop wearing masks when we stop taking our shoes off at TSA.”

Ingraham and Bhattacharya were discussing a quote from White House coronavirus response team member Dr. Anthony Fauci after he said that “several months into this year,” people can “start thinking seriously about the return to normality.”

Bhattacharya told Ingraham that he does not agree with Fauci’s stance.

“Basically, the problem with his thinking is that he seems to believe that lockdowns are costless,” Bhattacharya said. “They’re not costless. They have had devastating effects on the mental and physical health of basically every American.”

Bhattacharya pointed out that the coronavirus mortality rate for people under 70 years old stands at 0.05{b5fb2313141f47507446bcc3cb28c41525583ee0373a84bee66a3fb66eb5e85b} and said that the lockdown harm for that group is “absolutely devastating.”

“To think that we can wait until after we’ve protected the vulnerable, which we can do by the end of January with the vaccine,” he said, “essentially says you all who are seriously considering suicide … keep doing that.”

A coronavirus vaccine has begun being distributed across the country, and Vice President Mike Pence took a dose live on television Friday in an attempt to quell any fears about the safety of the process.

“Building confidence in the vaccine is what brings us here this morning,” Pence told reporters.
