The United States reportedly carried out an airstrike in Syria on Thursday against a structure belonging to what’s believed were Iran-backed militia members.
A defense official confirmed to NBC News the strikes targeted those facilities, and it is reported to have been approved by President Biden. Reuters has also confirmed the strike.
The strike marks one of the first military responses from the Biden administration, following a series of rocket attacks on U.S. targets in Iraq.
The State Department and White House did not immediately respond to the Washington Examiner’s request for comment.
