Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna was arrested Saturday on two charges, Fulton County records show.
Ozuna was booked on charges of aggravated assault by strangulation and family violence, according to Fulton County jail records. No other details about the arrest were immediately available.
Other Major League Baseball employees have made headlines in recent weeks. Los Angeles Angels pitching coach Mickey Callaway was banned from MLB through the end of 2022 for violating the league’s sexual harassment policy, and seven New York Yankees coaches and staffers tested positive in “breakthrough” cases of COVID-19 that occurred after being vaccinated.
Nicknamed “the Big Bear,” Ozuna was signed by the Miami Marlins as an amateur free agent in 2008 and has won several awards for his work in MLB.
Representatives for MLB did not immediately respond to the Washington Examiner‘s request for comment.
